Trucks, Satriani & West Comment on the Passing of Les Paul
In an interview with Gibson Guitars, Derek Trucks said "Les Paul played until the day he died. I admire that... That's the way you live a life" Of his many achievements Trucks said, "You could take any one of the many things he did and it would have been enough for most people. Inventing multi-tracking and then the 1st great solid body electric guitar. The amount of things he pulled off is pretty astounding." Joe Satriani said in a statement "Les Paul set a standard for musicianship and innovation that remains unsurpassed. He was the original guitar hero and the kindest of souls. Last October I joined him onstage at the Iridium club in [New York], and he was still shredding. He was and still is an inspiration to us all." Of the sad news Leslie West explained that Paul was "as innovative as Hendrix or anyone close to it, he took the electric guitar to a new level - one everyone could understand. He was so far ahead of everyone else; he did not realize what he had done."
Wayne Forte & Entourage Talent Associates
Wayne Forte, President
Nathaniel Marro, Agent & Sr. Admin. Assistant
Victoria Ireson, Administrative Assistant Kat Kilcullen, Administrative Assistant
Entourage Talent Associates, Ltd. is a talent agency and consulting firm, representing numerous clients exclusively on a worldwide basis as well as offering consulting services (on a fee basis) and servicing a host of promoters and concert venues throughout the world.
Since 1993, Entourage Talent Associates has helped to initiate, develop and maintain careers for clients (past and present) such as David Bowie, The Cure, Joe Satriani, Jesus and Mary Chain, Al Di Meola, Rockapella, Joan Armatrading, Howard Jones, The Tragically Hip, The Derek Trucks Band, Eric Johnson, Ronnie Dio, and Procol Harum, (among many others), as well as helping to create, develop and brand touring projects such as guitar heroes package show G3 and 2012 Grammy Award winning Blues sensation Tedeschi Trucks Band. Most currently, Entourage is working to develop two fantastic up and coming British artists into the scene: young rock n’ roll and blues phenom the Oli Brown and guitar virtuoso Matt Schofield, who mixes perfect combinations of rock, blues and funk in his sound. Both acts have been recent British Blues Awards winners in multiple categories over multiple years and have already received international acclaim
Wayne Forte, President
Entourage Talent Associates' owner, principal, and entrepreneur Wayne Forte is a seasoned veteran of the music industry. Having achieved major success milestones at the age of 26, opening his first privately owned business at 30 and booking shows ranging from small clubs to sold out stadiums and arenas worldwide. Through the years Forte’s philosophy has never changed; he looks for music “with [an] identity that seems to open up new side roads” and “people who set trends”, not follow them.
Born and raised in New York, Wayne Forte began booking student association concerts while enrolled at North Carolina State University to get his degree and start a career, so he thought. Instead, he re-discovered his inner music self, which he had buried in the attic with his old guitar, earlier on in life. Straight out of college Forte started his career in the 70's at one of the first full-service powerhouse agencies, Creative Management Associates, and quickly took on the representation of young musicians and bands, creating longstanding relationships with artists, managers and promoters. From this foundation and following the company's merger with another large music, television and theatrical agency (International Famous Agency) Forte was able to further develop his knowledge, skills, and relationships at the new company, International Creative Management. During this period he represented performers such as then-fledgling artists Hall and Oates, Chick Corea and Return to Forever, Weather Report, Billy Cobham and the now-legendary British rock quartet Status Quo, as well as beginning a relationship with a soon-to-be worldwide mega-star named David Bowie.
Following a move to the world-renowned William Morris Agency, Forte set his sights on signing the best of what was then termed "punk" or "new wave" music that most U.S. agents weren’t interested in. His conviction to ‘make something happen’ at almost ‘whatever cost’ was so strong, Forte flew to England against corporate management approval, to recruit and eventually sign a UK underground fledgling band virtually unknown in the U.S - The Clash. He had his work cut out for him, convincing promoters to take a risk, but the risks paid off when the 1978 Give ‘Em Enough Rope Tour sold out, surprising nervous American promoters and record executives alike. In a short time, Forte was working with acts like Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Iggy Pop, Joe Jackson, The Cure, the Stranglers and The Jam, to name a few, and was later tapped to be head of WMA's East Coast Music Department, until this time, perhaps, the youngest to do so.
With visions of taking a different approach to the business of booking Artists and developing careers, Forte and Michael Farrell, a fellow WMA agent, took a gamble on themselves and their vision risking all they had (literally!) to start their own agency: International Talent Group (ITG) was born, committed to breaking new artists and establishing and maintaining long-term careers. Within a year, ITG represented some of the hottest talent in the industry including but not limited to: Duran Duran, The Jam, Joe Jackson, Killing Joke, The Clash, The Vapors, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Adam and the Ants, David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, Genesis, King Crimson, and Billy Idol, bringing most to the U.S. shores for the very first time.
Growing by leaps and bounds, in 1983 ITG not only booked, but also co-produced David Bowie's world renowned Serious Moonlight Tour - many say the artist's most successful tour to date (and certainly resulting in the best selling album for the artist to date) - playing arenas and stadiums throughout the world, followed by Bowie's 1985-86 worldwide Glass Spider Tour, performed predominantly in stadiums with state of the art large-scale concert/theatrical productions. ITG also co-produced the 1987 Duran Duran worldwide Strange Behavior Tour, which played stadiums in Europe and Japan as well as multiple arena shows in the rest of the world, including Manila, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. At the same time, Forte continued to sign clients both domestically and internationally, including Howard Jones, The Psychedelic Furs, Joe Satriani, Sade, Paul Young, Radiohead, Yazoo, Scandal, Erasure, Eric Johnson, Spandau Ballet, Midge Ure, the legendary Power Station, Sarah McLachlan, Candy Dulfer, Simply Red, The Blue Nile, among many others, most on a worldwide basis.
These successes were followed by many more ITG stadium and arena tours throughout the world over the next ten years for clients The Cure, Depeche Mode, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Phil Collins, Roger Waters, David Bowie, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Robert Plant, among others, as Forte honed his expertise in foreign negotiation, planning and booking tours outside the U.S. as well as domestically, while at the same time establishing and overseeing multiple joint ventures for the ITG business. One of the most successful of these was with the joint venture with Labatt Entertainment Group, enabling the once fledgling agency and partners "with an idea" to realize many of their long term goals in additional to establishing offices in both Los Angeles and London.
After twelve years as CEO and President of ITG, responsible for signing more than 50% of the agency's eighty, or more, clients, Forte resigned his position, sold his ownership and left the ITG partnership to set up a more personalized agency and consulting firm, Entourage Talent Associates, Ltd where he could and would focus his knowledge and expertise on introducing talented young acts to the business and developing them into international successes , as he had done for the former 25 years and has continued to do for the last 15. And the rest, as they say, is history!
Today, Forte enjoys cycling and running with his two daughters around and across the world, whenever he has a chance, as well avidly following NCAA college basketball, March Madness, The Tour de France, and Olympic Track & Field.
Victoria Ireson A native Virginian, Victoria attended James Madison University, focusing on a career in the music industry, but ultimately graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs. Throughout college she remained actively involved in student organizations that brought national talent to the school stages. She also booked local talent and other small touring acts at a small venue downtown. Not long after finishing her degree, Victoria moved to New York to join the Entourage at the start of 2011.
Kat Kilcullen Kat started her college career as an art student at West Chester University and then transferred to Marywood University in her hometown of Scranton, PA, where she studied studio art, architecture, design, video and audio production, and photography, earning her B.A. in Digital Media & Photography in 2012. A self-taught musician, Kat dreamed of a career in the music industry since age 11, but it was her role as a college radio DJ that sparked her interest in the music promotion business. An internship with the Food Network’s “Sweet Genius” brought Kat to New York City, where she honed her design and organization skills in a high-pressure environment as Assistant to the Art Director. In January 2013, Kat brought those organization skills and her passion for music to Entourage Talent.
